Types of error

Type 1 error is rejecting the null hypothesis when it is in fact true (false-positive error)

Type 2 error is failing to reject the null hypothesis when it is false (false-negative error) 

The statistical power of a study is how likely the study is to distinguish an actual effect from one of chance.
It’s the likelihood that the test is correctly rejecting the null hypothesis (i.e. “proving” your hypothesis).
It is calculated as (1- type 2 error).
